Description
The elder synth is a hand held unit, crafted by long dead Ham radio hobbyists. Elder synths are odd technological marvels. When the three bulky Phillips head screws are taken out of the back of the sun burnt enclosure there really isn't much inside. A small buzzer and a black enclosed battery, five brown wires heavily soldered to their contacts. The green oscilloscope screen that waves with any sound is set deep into its plastic front. A plastic handle can be folded down into its back.
There was a time when computers spoke. Long before Jisang and long before the technology that worked without hesitation, computers sung beautiful songs. They communicated not with words, but in their own tongue. Wires connected these machines to each other so that they could sing beautiful songs to each other across the old world.
The Elder Synths that still exist in Jisang are used by those that still believe in the power of that these songs. They believe that they can still speak and lull the machines that surround their world, that hold up their home far above the clouds. They sit alone and listen, with a child on their lap or a lover by their side, they listen to the Elder Code that the synth orchestrates beautifully from its single internal piezoelectric buzzer.
